A teenager injured in the January 2025 Nashville school shooting has filed a lawsuit against Omnilert, the manufacturer of an AI gun detection system that failed to identify the weapon involved in the incident, which resulted in two deaths. The lawsuit alleges that Omnilert was aware of significant operational limitations in its system that could lead to detection failures in emergencies, citing issues such as camera placement, weapon proximity, and lighting conditions. Neither Omnilert cofounder Ara Bagdasarian nor System Integrations, the reseller of the system, have responded to requests for comment regarding the legal action.
