Config, a startup focused on creating the data layer for robotics foundation models, has raised $27 million in an oversubscribed seed round led by Samsung Venture Investment, valuing the company at over $200 million. Other strategic investors include Hyundai Motor's ZER01NE Ventures, LG Technology Ventures, and SKT America. Founded in January 2025 by CEO Minjoon Seo and a team of co-founders with backgrounds at Meta, Waymo, Google, and Naver, Config aims to provide essential data to improve the capabilities of robots. The startup's approach is likened to TSMC's role in chip manufacturing, positioning itself as a key player in the robotics AI market, which is becoming increasingly important as manufacturers seek to develop proprietary robot AI solutions.
