Anthropic has unveiled Claude Fable 5, a state-of-the-art AI model, designed for general use. Fable 5 surpasses previous models in performance across various benchmarks, particularly in software engineering, knowledge work, vision, and scientific research. To mitigate potential misuse, especially in cybersecurity, the model includes safeguards that redirect certain queries to the next-most-capable model, Claude Opus 4.8, affecting less than 5% of sessions. Additionally, Claude Mythos 5, sharing the same foundation, will be launched for a select group of cybersecurity professionals, with enhanced capabilities and fewer restrictions, initially deployed through Project Glasswing in partnership with the US government. Both models are priced at $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens, aiming to expand advanced AI access while ensuring safety.
